This was my second marathon, and it was interesting to say the least. Chicago welcome us with open arms, and I felt like I was going to have a great day. But disaster struck, and I had to scramble to make sure I could finish. Check out my recap of the Chicago marathon and what’s next as I try to complete the Abbott World Marathon Majors 6 marathons in NYC, Chicago, Boston, London, Berlin and Tokyo!
I was excited for this one. My first marathon outside of New York. I'd be running on unfamiliar roads and the weather in Chicago was always unpredictable. The Expo was okay, and very different from NYC. The Nike presence at big events that I'm used to was a welcome sight. I met a guy who was completing his 6 Star at Chicago and wished him luck.
I started off at a good pace. The Chicago course is mostly flat, so there was less worryt about the hills. I caught a cramp and had to stop in 7 Eleven for a banana, pedialyte and a cup of coffee. Yes it was brick!
I felt good! I was sore, but not in the same was as I was after NYC. A testament to the Crossfit training I incorporated into my regimen. 2 down, 4 to go!
First Star!
Second Star!
With Tokyo, Boston and Berlin on the table, which star will I claim? Stay tuned!
