They say the 3rd time’s the charm. This being my 3rd marathon, I can’t confirm or deny lol. This was a good race and a good time. It was tough, and I learned a lot about myself and where I need to go to complete my 6 Star mission. Check out the video and pics below plus my thoughts on the race.
The first time I ran this race, I was full of nerves and anxious energy. This time, I came in calm and with open eyes. I was able to avoid all the mistakes I made the first time. I got to Staten Island just in time to head to the corral. The weather was perfect for a race, so I had on just singlets, with gloves and a hat in my pocket for later. Aight, let's go!
I'll be honest, the NYC Marathon course is brutal. There are so many hills and inclines throughout the race. You really have to prepare yourself for them. I love the people lining the course, cheering us on. It really gives you a boost. And with my name on the front on my singlet, I heard a lot of "Let's Go Mess!" throughout the race. I was going slow and steady, which took me forever to finish.
It took me a few weeks to recover from the '21 marathon. My body was in shambles, my feet hurt and I was chafed in all the wrong places. This time, I was back running within a few days and I felt fine. A testament to my training and evolution.
First Star!
Second Star!
With Tokyo, Boston and Berlin on the table, which star will I claim? Stay tuned!
