Meet Jason

Born in Panama, raised in Brooklyn, Jason attended Brooklyn Technical High School, graduated from Holy Cross High School, and earned varsity honors at McNeese State University basketball team.

Jason played professional basketball for 5 years, in France, Chile, Saudi Arabia, and for the Panamanian National Team. Jason’s basketball career saw him earn a role in Spike Lee’s ‘He Got Game’ and bring him into the Nike family.

Jason worked with Nike on 8 commercials, 12 global campaigns, in a consultative role for 10 years. Jason then earned his MBA from Purdue University, beginning his marketing career in earnest. Jason took on Foot Locker’s social media accounts, taking them from barely relevant to millions of followers with viral and engaging content, including Kevin Durant playing at Dyckman Park, and Amar’e Stoudemire getting a job during the NBA lockout.

As a Marketer, Jason has worked on a number of brand campaigns, but his love of film and desire to direct pushed Jason to self-finance creative projects and take on contracts that allowed him to showcase his filmmaking skills. Jason’s goals are to win an Emmy for Outstanding Director and an Academy Award for Best Director. Jason’s connections to his community run deep, and led him to co-found Honor Humanity, a 501(c)03 non-profit focused on helping individuals in underserved communities. To date, Jason has completed 3 marathons, 14 half marathons, and 64 races in total.

Why I Run

As a man in my late 40’s, I’ve experienced some health issues and weight gain, while seeing loved ones die at an early age because they neglected their own health. I want to inspire Black men and women to take their health and wellness seriously by showing them we can reach our respective fitness goals while managing our busy lives. I found running at a late time in my life. Running has been therapeutic and beneficial to my headspace. When people see me running races, doing CrossFit, and yoga, my hope is they see a peer and friend doing the same things they are capable of. Completing races and marathons are goals I’ve set for myself. I want to complete the Abbott World Marathon Majors Six Stars because why not!
